Our trip to Asheville
3:58:00 PMOn our first date ever, atop a hill looking over our little city, we both mentioned that we wanted to move. We both mentioned Asheville and kinda gave each other a look, like quite saying what I'm saying. That is now a bit of a running theme in our relationship. But back to moving, I have moved quite a few times around Georgia, but Paul has never left his town. We both have some extensive travel under our belt though, so it's not like we've been trapped.
But after a little bit of conversation December we decided to go up to Asheville and check it out. Spend a few days immersed in it and see if it was something we thought we really wanted to do.
We chose a cute little basement apartment off of air bnb in Montford neighborhood. When you walked out of the door you could see the sunset over the mountains, so needless to say we did well.
Sometimes we drove, sometimes we walked, just depended on what we thought we'd be getting into as a whole that day. There was a few really sweet places to eat and drink just a few blocks from where we stayed. Though most nights we traipsed over to downtown asheville and enjoyed the scene. It is an amazing place, Asheville, so much to do and see.
I wish I had gotten more photos of the interior, we just were enjoying ourselves too much being out and about, I barely took my phone out. This was at Wicked Weed Brewing. It was fantastic, you should stop by there for a beer or two... or three.
You'll find out quickly our love for star wars is pretty intense, Paul much more than me, but this was fantastic to stumble upon on our walk home one night.
All I have from this night is this snap chat photo I saved the next morning from my story. Holy moley. Out of everything we did, this was the best night we had hands down. Asheville Music Hall you were bloody spectacular. It was the best combination of everything all thrown together at once. We were blown away and swept up. Upstairs live band jamming out, downstairs was more of a club vibe but with live music as well, and in the back downstairs, was Mojo Kitchen. Hands down some of the best tacos I've had. And easily takes the cake for the best late night mildly intoxicated food I've ever in my life had, and I don't know if anywhere else will ever trump this. If you have time, and there is a show, please go!
Waking up was hard but I was determined to make it for brunch at Biscuit Head, with a catch phrase "put some south in your mouth"I don't know why you wouldn't want to go there for brunch.
Everyone was so friendly and down to earth, I swapped glasses with the sweet girl behind the counter and shared my story of how fantastic they are and pimped out the website (more to come on them.) And then I moved on to the biscuits. Oh my lord. And the jams. Oh my goodness. It was amazing. I enjoyed ever single bite.
It's become tradition for me, if I drive anywhere near Asheville, I have to stop by looking glass falls. Paul had never been so that sealed the deal. Pisgah National Forest, a beautiful spot. After we visited the falls, we went a bit further in and explored the natural water slide, and have promised ourselves that we will return next year and slide down that beast. It looked awesome, better than any water park.
